This page highlights of some of our performance events over the years

Motone are one of the best.. The amount of extra  effort  it takes to bring an event like this to a tropical paradise in the  middle of the  Pacific Ocean, and work wonders with the challenge of sourcing  the general  technical  infrastructure that we take for granted on the  mainland..  Motone  produce a show worthy of any main stage in the world.. And  the other guys don’t  get a tropical-beach palm-tree Pacific Ocean sunset as their  backdrop!

Darren Mathaissan - Drummer for Shapeshifter, Bella Kalolo & Iva Lamkum

Greg Johnson April 2016 Live at Sails
The IMPROV BANDITS Live at Cocoputt

Greg Johnson is undeniably a rock solid member of NZ's music establishment. Now residing in LA writing and playing music Greg visited Rarotonga and we happily worked with him to put one stellar night on at SAILS. Comedy hit our shores at the same time with the IMPROV BANDITS whose show at COCOPUTT had the crowd in stitches.

In November MMQ hit the shores of Rarotonga along with the Fresh TV crew and what an impact they made. 2 nights of sold out concerts at the EMPIRE theatre and crowds cheering for more long after they left. We are will have the MMQ crew back in JULY / AUG of 2016. Brillant performers, Brillant show jsut an alround crowd pleasing event.

Bella Kalolo Tour  June 2015

Picture
In June 2015 Soul Queen Bella Kalolo returned to Rarotonga for her 3rd tour to our welcoming island performing one stellar house concert and one huge rocking gig at the Islander Hotel. Both gigs were sell outs. Accompanying her was her rock solids Darren Mathaissan on drums and Andy Muafua on Guitar with guest vocals from the beautiful Wini Baxter. Rarotonga Loves Bella Kalolo and every time she brings more and more to her performance and vocals. Motone knows Bella is now a regular act to our shores.  Bella returned a month later for some R&R but also gave back to the community conducting a day of vocal training workshops as well as private vocal sessions for artists on the island. Bella is one of the Motone family.

As part of the 2015 Cook Islands Independence Motone lead the charge with TAREKAREKA 2015 a New Years day Celebration held on Nukupure Park in Muri. With the loving support of the CI50th celebrations, BCI Bank- the Bank of the Cook Islands, Prime Foods, Captain Tama's, The Islander Hotel, Air Rarotonga, Tamanu Village, Raro EXPO, Telecom Cook Islands, CITC and a great crew of volunteers New years day in Rarotonga and January 3rd in Aitutaki  were days of great National Pride.

Recognising the legendary Willie Crummer and the beautiful soulstress Annie Crummer accompanied by the Rarotongans Cook Islands music was the jewel to be celebrated. Motone artists Triggerfish, Kahiki, Islands Groove and rising Opera star Ridge Ponini with Bonaventure Allan Moetaua wowed the 3000 strong crowd who were wowed with an explosive fireworks display to wrap things up. It may have taken it out of us at Motone but 2015 started just how we had planned.  Go to our Gallery to see more

LOUIS BAKER 2013 & AGM Trio

Picture
Motone loves what Louis Baker does and after seeing him at Sounds Aotearoa we jumped at the chance to introduce his music to Rarotonga. Louis wowed audiences here with 2 private house concerts that showcased his amazing voice, songwriting talents and guitar prowess.
At the same time we had the AGM trio a Celtic roots ensemble from NZ here so we combined the two in an afternoon beach session that even the whales who are passing by Rarotonga in July came and decided to put on a show as well just past the reef.

Divas in Paradise

Picture
October 2011 saw the very first Divas in Paradise concert, held at Club Raro's venue, Are Karioi, this one night only concert drew people from far and wide to be a part of the action. With a line up that rivalled any overseas event Divas left the 420 concert goers eager for more Divas in Paradise action.

Divas is a unique concert that marries top international female talent with some of the Cooks Islands leading songstresses. As you can read for the poster Divas gave a show lineup that had many a traveller board a plane to be here for it.

Bella Kalolo, Julia Deans and  International star LADI 6 rocked the stage with our Cook Islands gals meeting them every step of the way. Local talent Kura Happ and Tara Kauvai both delivered stellar sets. At $45.00 NZD a ticket Divas is an event not to be missed. What better way to get some tropical sun and see some of the best female talent on offer in the South Pacific.

Divas at it again!

Picture
2012  Divas in Paradise line up saw the rising super nova
Iva   Lankum take the stage in Rarotonga with Kirsten Te Rito hot off  her win as best female artist at the recent Maori Music Awards. Back to make  DIVAS the hot house of female talent that she kicked it off to be in 2010  was LADI 6  who take the stage to reinforce her standing as the mighty LADI of the  DIVAS stage. To add to the mix the vocal talents of our very own Cre with her soulful voice set her rising star into orbit. DIVAS in Paradise is the stellar music experience under a tropical sunset that can't be beaten.

But just when you  thought it couldn't get any better YES IT CAN, and it DID. " Girls Have Got Guitars" is the new event added to the Divas in Paradise portfolio of excellent weekend entertainment.  Julia Deans our Diva of 2011 wowed crowds again
with her solo performance set at Crown Beach Resort and Spa on the beach is an afternon of chillin and fine times. Our local talent of the soulful Kura Happ and new talent Cre create a vibe that is Pacific talent at its best. Remember for next year if you have bought a ticket to Divas you can come to this event for $10.00 but make sure you wear your Divas bracelet if  not door sales are $20.00. "Girls Have Got Guitars" in an afternoon gig that starts at 2.00pm on the Sunday afternoon.
